Soul of Africa Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
I cannot count how many times I’ve eaten here! The food is so delicious! I came into the store to order my usual jollof rice and lamb, and saw that the restaurant was redecorated and appeared more inviting and warm. I was told that they are under new management. That was a pleasant surprise. I went home to enjoy my meal. It did not disappoint, in fact I was blessed with a lovely surprise of plantain, which is new. I only ordered jollof rice and lamb, and almost yelled out when I saw the plantain they added! I’m Nigerian and I eat spicy food, but that spicy sauce is so intense! However, when you mix a little in with the food, everything is good and so flavorful.
I've gotten chek rice and gravy today. I Must say the food was excellent and will continue to to business with them.I definitely love the food Definitely appreciate the service and time you put into my food.
The fufu was very delicious ! I was a bit nervous because of some of the reviews. But just take a look at the photo and you can tell it was delicious . The plantains tasted just like home. The only thing was that the egusi soup was a little bit oily . But the flavor profile made up for it
I usually get my potato greens from le mandingue but I recently moved so I figured I give this place a try. Their potato greens and fufu definitely didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the flavor, the only thing i didn’t like about it was pieces in the greens I couldn’t really chew. The fufu was also good - it didn’t stick to my fingers like other fufu I had in the past so I was happy about that. I also got white rice and I wish it came with their pepper sauce that usually comes with their platters. Other than that, I will probably go back again.
Food tasted so fresh and well seasoned. Jollof Rice is definitely different from what they used to have but baaaaby they upgraded it. Chicken was fried to perfection seasoned with love. Don’t get me started on the little surprise plantains…. Made up for any complaints that I had (not having dessert as if I needed it at 12pm)
This is my new favorite spot!!! The employees were so friendly and welcoming and had such pleasant attitude. I tired the Palava soup with fufu and let me tell you 10/10 I normally get cassava leaf but after finding this gem I will be leveling up my taste buds
I ordered potato greens the flavor was really good. The veins weren’t taken out so I had to keep spitting them out or it getting stuck. Also $2 for pepper sauce was a bit extreme to me and it wasn’t that spicy. Overall the food was good to me and I’d revisit.
This was my first time trying authentic African food. I have to say it was delicious! I ordered the snapper with white rice for my kid and the fufu and pepper soup for myself. The snapper was so fresh and so flavorful. The rice was cooked properly and they put so much in the tray! The pepper soup was sooooo spicy it was everything I dreamed of lol. The fufu was hot and tasty. I ate it with my pepper soup the experience was amazing. I will be returning again and again. The lady was so kind and she gave so much useful information once I told her I’ve never eaten any traditional African food before. She was very helpful. She even showed me our beautiful platters once they were done she takes pride in her food and that was a delightful addition to the experience.
